Clubs Are Culture.

Club culture across the country is under serious threat from gentrification and regulatory madness. A major hurdle has now been overcome, clubs are recognized as cultural venues according to the law. Unfortunately, this is only a symbolic step. For example, they are still listed as industrial noise in the noise protection ordinance.

The Verband der Musikspielstätten in Deutschland e.V. wanted to draw attention to the issue with the claim "Clubs are culture" and approached me to develop a small campaign against club deaths. The budget: zero. The result was a narrative and a graphic element as a common thread. The core: what actually is club culture? Something different for everyone and that's exactly what makes it so special and worth protecting.
